**From the ChoosePT.com website: Falls and a fear of falling can diminish your ability to lead a full and independent life. Although 1 in every 4 older adults falls each year, falling is not a part of normal aging. You have the power to reduce your risk of falls. A physical therapist can help you do so by:
Assessing your risk for falling
Designing an individualized plan for your fall-prevention needs
Helping you make your home as safe as possible
Educating you about the medical risk factors associated with falls
Providing you with appropriate exercises and balance training
Working with other health care professionals to address any underlying medical conditions that could increase your fall risk
Providing you with recommendations on appropriate community programs
Encore Rehabilitation Physical and Occupational Therapists can help you avoid or recover from a fall. Call us for more information!

From Hamilton Middle School Principal Norman Ballard, “On behalf of Hamilton Middle School, I would like to take the time to thank Encore Rehabilitation for all the services they provide our student athletes. It’s reassuring not only to the coaches but also to the parents that someone from ENCORE is always on call. We have been lucky enough to have Athletic Trainer Drew Battle at our disposal for many years here at Hamilton. He has gone above and beyond his job description to take care of our students. No matter the time of day or the circumstances, Drew is always on call! We appreciate that!”
Encore Rehabilitation-Hamilton says thank you to Principal Ballard and Hamilton Middle School! We LOVE being a part of the Hamilton community!

Summer time in the South means lots of heat and humidity! Here are some tips for dealing with the summer heat!
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids. Do not wait until you are thirsty to start hydrating. A sports drink can help replace lost salt and minerals from sweating.
Stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun.
NEVER leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles. NEVER.
Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing that covers as much skin as possible. Protect your face and head with a wide-brimmed hat.
Avoid working outside during the hottest part of the day. Take frequent breaks.
Pay attention to what you eat and drink. Eat less of salty foods and eat more fruits and vegetables. Also smaller, more frequent meals will help.
Seek indoor, air-conditioned activities. If you do not have air conditioning, visit public places with air conditioning like the mall, the library, or restaurants.
Stay tuned to the local forecast on the radio, television, or internet.
Be sure to check on family and friends who do not have air conditioning and may live alone.
Learn the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Heat-related deaths and illnesses are preventable, but it’s important to identify the warning signs and to react swiftly and appropriately when they arise.
