It’s amazing to see the progress and excitement when patients are able to use their voice for the first time. As a child who received speech therapy for over five years, my ultimate goal to help patients reach the fullest potential to improve communication skills just like a speech therapist did in my life. I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community and work with amazing families while at Encore Rehabilitation-Cullman.”
Happy Better Hearing and Speech Month, Allison! Thank you for the wonderful care you provide to our patients and their families!

Encore Rehabilitation wishes a Happy Better Hearing and Speech Month to Speech-Language Pathologist Leah Hyche !
Leah LOVES her work and LOVES helping others!
“l love my job! I knew I was in the right field while working with my first patient during a clinical rotation. The child was non-verbal with minimal ability to functionally communicate. Building a relationship with the patient and family enabled us as a team to establish a communication system that was effective and efficient. I was able to watch not just the child transform but the whole family. Watching this transformation take place was life changing as his abilities went from essentially no communication to being able to communicate his wants and needs with his family.
“There are numerous, amazing moments in my career I could share. Playing a role in helping a child form his or her first word or sentence, seeing a child play with a toy or another child appropriately for the first time, and of course, when you hear a parent say their child said ‘I love you, with words or some other form of communication, is amazing!
“And I love to work with adults, too! I have formed many special relationships over the years. Helping an adult work through speech, language, cognitive tasks, or to improve function of eating/swallowing is one of the most rewarding experiences.
“My job is about building relationships, caring for my patients, and in turn helping them reach their goals!” ~Leah Hyche, SLP
