Two major milestones from this week’s games

Alexandria posted win No. 600 in its fabled history (with only four head coaches since 1948

Lou Scales, 1948-1985
Larry Ginn, 1986-2006
Frank Tucker, 2007-2017
Todd Ginn, 2018 – current

The Valley Cubs are now 600-333-29 … and the 23rd school in AHSAA history to reach this milestone. Fayette County is the leader, winning its 697th game Friday night and now owns a 697-352-25 slate – with 300-game winner Waldon Tucker back at the helm after a short retirement.

And Paul Benefield became the newest member of the 300-coaching wins club

The Fyffe head coach is now 300-53, an 85.0% winning rate – best among the state’s seven coaches who won 300 or more games in Alabama.

All but one of those coaches are still active and all are alive.

1. Buddy Anderson, Vestavia Hills   342-158

2. Terry  Curtis, UMS-Wright            319-87

3. Danny Horn, Central, Clay Co.     316-88

4. Jamie Riggs, Houston Academy   315-96

5. Waldon Tucker, Fayette County  310-126-3

6. Glenn Daniel, Luverne                   302-169-16 (retired since 1993)

7. Paul Benefield, Fyffe 300-53 … best winning pct. At 85.0%

Dayla is a local elementary school Physical Education teacher. After a knee surgery during the summer, Dayla Gulledge chose Encore Rehabiliation for her Physical Therapy. Dayla shares, “I chose Encore because I had been a previous patient with other injuries as a former athlete. National Fall Prevention Awareness Day

**From the ChoosePT.com website: Falls and a fear of falling can diminish your ability to lead a full and independent life. Although 1 in every 4 older adults falls each year, falling is not a part of normal aging. You have the power to reduce your risk of falls. A physical therapist can help you do so by:

  • Assessing your risk for falling
  • Designing an individualized plan for your fall-prevention needs
  • Helping you make your home as safe as possible
  • Educating you about the medical risk factors associated with falls
  • Providing you with appropriate exercises and balance training
  • Working with other health care professionals to address any underlying medical conditions that could increase your fall risk
  • Providing you with recommendations on appropriate community programs

Encore Rehabilitation Physical and Occupational Therapists can help you avoid or recover from a fall. Call us for more information!

**To read more about Falls, Fall Prevention, and how Physical Therapy can help, read the rest of this article at “Physical Therapy Guide to Falls” at ChoosePT.com
