AL Pain Center Athlete of the Month, Joel Powell.

Congratulations to one of the funnest patients we have ever had, Joel Powell! Joel was chosen as the October Alabama Pain Center Athlete of the Month and is a multi-sport, athlete at Huntsville High School.  He is a member of the Panther’s football and basketball teams. You can find him on the field, or on the court, wearing the jersey number 14 and 30 respectively.  Joel has a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend with Auburn University or UAB to study orthopedic surgery.  He is the son of John and Linda Powell.

Keep up the good work, Joel! Good luck this season!

Tuscaloosa Encore Athlete of the Month, Mackenzie Calhoun.

Congratulations to Mackenzie Calhoun who was chosen as the Tuscaloosa Clinic Athlete of the Month! Mackenzie is a freshman at Brookwood High School this year and plays softball for their JV team. She wears the jersey numbers 9 and 18 and has also won an MVP award. Her GPA is 3.6 and she plans to attend Auburn University to major in Physical Therapy. Mackenzie is the daughter of Christy and Brian Calhoun.

Tuscaloosa Clinic Athlete of the Month, Gary Wyatt!

Congratulations to Gary Wyatt who was chosen as the Tuscaloosa Encore Athlete of the Month! Gary is a senior at Hale County High School. He has been a member of the varsity football team for 4 years now and wears the jersey number 60. He plays multiple positions including offensive and defensive lineman. Gary has a 3.8 GPA, plans to attend Auburn University for Veterinarian Medicine, and pursue a doctorate degree in that as well. He is also planning to go into the mission field and use his degree to help others. Gary is the son of Michelle and Jeffrey Tinney, and and Gary and Kelly Wyatt. Congratulations again and good luck, Gary!

Hoover Clinic Athlete of the Month, Olivia Bishop.

Congratulations to Olivia Bishop who was chosen as the Hoover Encore Athlete of the Month! Olivia is a freshman cheerleader at Hoover High School.   Ten minutes before her first football game she did a back tuck in her warm up that resulted in a torn meniscus and ACL. She has cheered since 1st grade and has been on several competitive cheer teams.  She is a member of the Student Government Association at the high school and the Christian Club Undivided. Hoover Juniorettes and C.A.R.E are both service clubs that Olivia is currently involved with.  Olivia is very involved with her youth group at Riverchase United Methodist Church.  Siblings include an eleven year old sister Chloe’ who is also a competitive cheerleader. Currently, Olivia’s plan is to Auburn University after she graduates.

Gulf Shores Clinic Athlete of the Month, Connor Kendrick.

Connor Kendrick is the January Athlete for the month for the Encore Gulf Shores Clinic. Connor is a 22 year old, left handed pitcher for the Tampa Yankees Minor league team and started therapy at Encore for an SI dysfunction. He was a member of the Auburn University baseball team where he was selected by the New York Yankees in the ninth round of the 2013 first-year player draft. Connor only played one season at Auburn, where he went 5-3, with a 2.13 ERA, and a team-high of 75 strikouts in 80, 1/3 innings as a junior.

Columbiana Encore Athlete of the Month, Catherine Cole.

Congratulations to the Columbiana Encore Athlete of the Month, Catherine Cole! Catherine is a sophomore at Shelby County High School and a member of the dance team. Her hobbies include dancing and hanging out with friends. After high school, Catherine plans on attending Auburn University. Catherine is the daughter of Ray and Camille Cole. Keep up the good work, Catherine!

Hoover Encore Athlete of the Month, John Ethridge.

Congratulations to the Hoover Encore Clinic Athlete of the Month, John Ethridge! John is a senior at Hoover High School and is a full back on the Bucs football team. After high school, he plans to attend Auburn University and major in business.  Good luck this season, John! Go Bucs!
