“I heard about Encore Rehabilitation through a friend of mine. I was having chronic right lumbosacral pain so I decided to see if they could help. The experience has been so rewarding. I’m on my way to recovery due to the knowledgeable Physical Therapists at Encore Rehabilitation-Opelika. Daniel, Keena, Julia, and Trip have all helped me. I’m getting better with each treatment and I’m doing my home program. They have really gone overboard to educate me on how to help facilitate a successful recovery. Sarah is also very nice. She helps with scheduling my appointments and always greets me with that great smile that welcomes everyone that comes to Encore-Opelika.” ~ James Thrift, patient.
Thank you, James for choosing Encore Rehabilitation-Opelika to be your rehab provider! We wish you continuing success!

He says, “I was rear-ended in an auto accident. I have received physical therapy for muscle pain and tightness and also received the Dry Needling procedures. The Dry Needling process made a night-and-day improvement of my pain and tightness in my neck. I feel like a new person and I am nearly pain-free at this time. I recommend the Dry Needling procedure to anyone that is a candidate for it!”
Thank you, Ty, for choosing Encore Rehabilitation Therapists and East Central Physical Therapy for your rehabilitation! We LOVE to see you move and are so happy the Dry Needling has helped you!

What is the McKenzie Method?
According to the McKenzie Institute International, “the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (MDT) is an internationally acclaimed method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain developed by New Zealand Physiotherapist Robin McKenzie. It has been widely used all over the world for more than 30 years. MDT clinicians are trained to assess and diagnose all areas of the musculoskeletal system. That means that if a problem exists in or around the spine, joint or muscle, an MDT evaluation may be appropriate. MDT is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education that is trusted and used by clinicians and patients all over the world for back, neck and extremity problems. This approach continues to be one of the most researched physical therapy based methods available.”
Pat received her Bachelor of Physical Therapy from the University of South Alabama and has 33 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist. In November, 2016, she became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) through Klose Training and worked full-time for one year as a CLT in the Lymphedema Clinic at Cox Health in Springfield, Missouri. This training and experience has established Pat as an expert in lymphedema treatment.
Pat has now returned to northwest Alabama to provide lymphedema services to patients suffering with lymphedema and edema symptoms.
Lymphedema and edema affects a large number of people and can be effectively treated by a Certified Lymphedema Therapist using Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) techniques which include patient & family education, exercise, skin care, manual lymphatic drainage, short stretch bandages, and garments.

Jill Gurganus was suffering with pain every day related to trigeminal neuralgia and TMD/TMJ. At times her pain was debilitating, ranking 8-10 on a pain scale of 10. Previous attempts to combat the pain with medicine and other treatments were short-lived. But now things are different, thanks to physical therapy and dry needling at Encore Rehabilitation-Tillman’s Corner.
Jill happily relates her success, “When the spasms started to return, I started physical therapy and dry needling**. Within a few treatments my symptoms were significantly better! By the end of my treatments, my pain had gone from a debilitating 8-10 to zero! I am now down to a very few episodes a day. I have also learned proper body mechanics and tools to strengthen the muscles. The staff at Encore is amazing and has truly been a lifesaver! The Encore staff have completely changed my life.”
Thank you, Jill, for choosing the rehab team at Encore Rehabilitation-Tillman’s Corner as your rehab provider! We appreciate the opportunity to help you!

The occupational therapist’s goal is to ensure that you can participate in any activity you want while still protecting your joints and getting hand pain relief.
For starters, an occupational therapist teaches people with RA about disease self-management, Dodge says – offering instruction on joint protection techniques, how to use assistive devices, how to conserve your energy, and exercises that…
