Ms. Roberson’s Inspiring Journey with Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) & Encore Rehabilitation-Semmes

Theresa Roberson has overcome incredible challenges—and she continues to inspire those around her!

We’re proud to recognize Ms. Roberson as Patient of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation–Semmes!

Ms. Roberson was diagnosed with Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO), a rare autoimmune neurological condition that affects the central nervous system. NMO primarily affects the spinal cord and optic nerves and can cause symptoms including muscle weakness, paralysis, changes in sensation, and vision problems. Although NMO can sometimes be confused with multiple sclerosis, it is a separate condition.

For Ms. Roberson, NMO resulted in paraplegia. Through the challenges she has faced, she has remained committed to Physical Therapy and worked hard to maintain her independence.

Just as remarkable is the positive attitude Ms. Roberson has maintained throughout her years of therapy! Her determination and outlook have made an impact far beyond her own recovery, inspiring both the Semmes Rehab Team and other patients along the way.

Karter is walking again! ~Encore Rehabilitation-Eufaula, Alabama!

Join us in celebrating Karter Anderson, our Patient of the Month at Encore Rehabilitation – Eufaula!

Karter has been working incredibly hard through an intense course of Physical Therapy following Achilles tendon and peroneal tendon lengthening. Her rehabilitation has focused on rebuilding strength, improving mobility, and—most importantly—learning to walk again.

Since beginning therapy in August, Karter has shown incredible determination and perseverance! Her hard work and positive attitude have made her a joy to work with and we are so proud of the progress she continues to make!

Welcome to Madi Thomas, PT, with Encore Rehabilitation-West Mobile, Alabama

We’re excited to welcome Madison “Madi” Thomas, DPT, as a new Physical Therapist on the Rehab Team at Encore Rehabilitation–West Mobile!

Madi earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from the University of South Alabama and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Faulkner University. She graduated from Baker High School, where she played alto saxophone.

Outside of work, Madi enjoys spending time outdoors. She and her husband, Dylan, have a horse, two donkeys, and two cats. She also loves ice cream, especially chocolate mint chip.

Meet Corey Richardson, Physical Therapist Assistant at Encore Rehabilitation-Grenada!

Corey is a native of Eupora, Mississippi, and graduated from Eupora High School before attending the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Holmes Community College in Grenada. His connection to Encore actually began before graduation—Corey completed his second clinical rotation at Encore Rehabilitation-Grenada during his final semester of PTA school!

He is now quickly approaching his one-year anniversary with our Grenada Rehab Team!

“One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is witnessing a patient’s breakthrough and reaching their recovery milestone,” shares Corey.

Outside of work, Corey enjoys Alabama football, playing golf, and spending time with his wife, Julia, and his family.

And since football season is here, Corey and his family have a special message for the Grenada High School Chargers: Good luck in your first home game tonight against the Cleveland Central Wolves! Kickoff is at 7:00 at Charger Stadium!
