Walking again! Mrs. Wilson is Patient of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Andalusia

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Mrs. Melodie Wilson as our Patient of the Month at Encore Rehabilitation – Andalusia!

Six months ago, Mrs. Wilson came to us facing a massive challenge. After undergoing surgery to remove a tumor behind her knee, nerve involvement left her with severe nerve damage and constant chronic pain. A doctor even told her that she would most likely never walk again.

Mrs. Wilson refused to accept that limitation, and so did we!

Thanks to her incredible determination and the consistent, positive encouragement of her physical therapy team, she is defying the odds. Not only is she improving every single week, but she is WALKING!

“I look forward to my visit every week,” Mrs. Wilson says. “I am always pushed to do my best! I wish I could go every day because of the atmosphere of the clinic! They care so much about their patients and I just love it there.”

Mrs. Wilson chose Encore because she heard great things about our care and had previously trusted us to care for her two sons during their high school sports days.

Meet Justin Hargett, PT, DPT, Industrial Rehab Leader with Encore Rehabilitation, Inc.

Encore Rehabilitation, our leaders combine advanced clinical training, industrial rehabilitation expertise, and functional recovery experience to help patients return to work safely and efficiently.

Meet Justin Hargett, PT, DPT, Regional Director of Operations for Encore Rehabilitation North Alabama/Northwest Alabama. Justin has been with Encore for 12 years, serving as Clinical Director at multiple clinics across the region while helping lead operations and clinical excellence across Encore’s Industrial Rehab programs.

Justin holds certifications in post-offer employment testing and ergonomics through WorkSteps and Atlas Ergonomics. He is trained in McKenzie lumbar and cervical spine techniques as well as being certified in dry needling. He brings a strong foundation in manual therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, and sports performance training.

He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Alabama State University and his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Auburn University, where he was also a four-year letterman in baseball.

Justin’s work focuses heavily on industrial rehabilitation testing, functional recovery, and sports and orthopedic rehab, ensuring patients receive high-level, evidence-based care individually tailored to successful return-to-work and performance outcomes.

Meet Jason Yarber, DPT, Cert. MDT, Regional Director for Encore Rehabilitation in Booneville and Tupelo, Mississippi! Jason brings extensive leadership experience to both clinics, along with a strong background in industrial rehabilitation, injury prevention, and workplace health.

Jason earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He holds advanced credentials through the McKenzie Spine Institute, a vestibular certification from the American Institute of Balance, and certification as an Industrial Ergonomic Evaluator through OccuPro.

He is also trained in Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) and impairment ratings, providing valuable expertise in return-to-work planning and workers’ compensation cases. His clinical and consulting work includes ergonomic assessments, post-offer employment testing, and injury prevention and treatment services for regional industries.

Jason has also served as Director of Rehabilitation for a local hospital and was the owner of a private practice for 14 years, bringing both operational leadership and hands-on clinical expertise to his role. Jason’s experience and leadership continue to strengthen Encore’s Industrial Rehab services, helping employers, providers, and employees achieve better outcomes across every stage of recovery.

Amazing Success for Ms. Hill with Encore Rehabilitation-Mobile West!

The comeback story of Ms. Shelia Hill is nothing short of AMAZING! 

Ms. Hill came to Encore Rehabilitation-West Mobile with neck and back pain, along with multiple health issues that had been worsening and slowly disabling her over the past two years. 

When she started Physical Therapy, she was unable to drive, depended on a walker for mobility, needed help getting dressed each day, and was only able to do very minimal cooking and cleaning. She would get short of breath just walking from room to room. She could not get up from the floor if she fell or even pick up a small object from the floor without severe back pain from bending.

Ms. Shelia was struggling daily with things many of us take for granted.

Ms. Shelia has completely turned her life around with Physical Therapy!

She dedicated herself to her rehab, stayed diligent with her home exercise program, and after about a month of rehab, she was able to join a gym and continue exercising beyond her home program.

Today, Ms. Shelia is able to cook, clean, and dress herself independently! She is no longer using an assistive device and is walking regularly for exercise! She can now get up and down from the floor without assistance and has found joy in movement again!

Ms. Shelia has surpassed every original goal we set and continues breaking her own personal goals. We are so proud of how far she has come and cannot wait to see what she accomplishes next.
