Happy National Occupational Therapy Month to Heather Holland with Encore Rehabilitation-Winfield

April is Occupational Therapy (OT) Month! Today we recognize Heather Holland!

Heather has been a Occupational Therapist for four years. Originally from Winfield, AL, she now resides in Hamilton, AL.

Heather earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and later attended Alabama State for OT School. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family. Heather also enjoys traveling and running.

Heather’s interests in Occupational Therapy include Orthopedic Rehabilitation with emphasis on Hand Therapy and custom splinting as well as Pediatric Rehabilitation.

When asked why she became an OT Heather replied, “I knew at a young age I wanted to work in healthcare. After shadowing people in various professions, I realized quickly that Occupational Therapy was the perfect fit for me. I chose OT because it’s not a ‘cookie cutter’ career. Occupational Therapy is very diverse with many opportunities for growth. Everyday I get the opportunity to work with people across the lifespan to regain their independence and to live their life to the fullest. I have already found the profession of Occupational Therapy to be rewarding, challenging and filled with countless opportunities to serve others and my community. To quote a close friend, ‘I don’t go to work to make a living but to make a difference.'”

Say hello to Charles Veneziano, Occupational Therapy Patient of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Dothan!

In October of 2021, Charles had surgery on his left hand.  He had been dealing with increased pain due to arthritis focused near his thumb.  He had a trapezietomy on his left hand.  He had already become a pro at therapy due to him having his right hand LRTI surgery in April 2021.  He completed 8-9 weeks of therapy for his right hand and has been coming for 8 weeks for his left.  Charles stated his favorite thing about therapy is “having fun and laughing with the ladies at rehab!”

After several months of therapy, Charles is progressing well and getting back to doing the things they love!  We are so proud of your progress, Charles, and we are proud you as our Occupational Therapy Patient of the Month!

Tyler Upton continues his rehab journey with Encore Rehabilitation-Winfield

In August 2019, Tyler Upton was involved in a very serious car accident. As a result of the accident, Tyler suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. After spending three months hospitalized at UAB, he started an intensive rehab program at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

In March 2020, Tyler returned home to Winfield and continued his recovery process at Encore Rehabilitation-Winfield. At Encore, Tyler continues to regain his skills in balance, coordination, and agility. He has made extraordinary progress since his accident!

We are very, very proud of Tyler! We know with his persistence and dedication with his rehab, he will continue to heal and recover. Keep going, Tyler! We LOVE to see you move!

We are very excited to have Victoria with us! She has a passion for helping others and provides great care to our patients.

Victoria has been a Clinician with Encore Rehabilitation for four years. She has worked in several settings including adult and pediatric outpatient, schools, and skilled nursing.

She obtained her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from The University of Birmingham. She also holds degrees from Wallace State Community and the University of North Alabama.

Join us in welcoming Heather Holland, Occupational Therapist! She is joining our Rehab Team at Encore Rehabiltiation-Winfield!

Heather is a graduate of Winfield City High School. She received a Bachelors in Education with a major in Kinesiology from the University of Alabama and her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Alabama State University.  She has been practicing Occupational Therapy for almost four years and is excited to be back serving in her hometown community!

Heather is married to Shane Holland and has one adorable pup named Duke. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

After crushing his hand at work between a metal pole and a piece of wood, Mr. Weeks had two surgeries to fix his hand. He chose Encore Rehabilitation after it was highly recommended to him.

Mr. Weeks is progressing well and getting back to the things he loves. We are so proud of your progress, Mr. Weeks, and we are proud to have you as our Occupational Therapy Patient of the Month.
