Vernon Encore Athlete of the Month, Rebecca Moore.

Congratulations to Rebecca Moore who was chosen as the the Vernon Clinic Athlete of the Month! Rebecca is a multi-sport, sophomore athlete at Sulligent High School. She has played Varsity Basketball (#21) and Volleyball (#26) for two years now. Her sports awards consist of the 2014 Rebound award, 2014 Volleyball Most Improved, and she is a member of the 2014 Sweet Sixteen in Volleyball. After she graduates, her plans are to attend the University of Alabama and major in physical therapy. Rebecca is the daughter of Neil and Jennifer Moore.

Decatur Clinic Encore Athlete of the Month, Savanna Naylor.

Congratulations to the Decatur Encore Athlete of the Month, Savanna Naylor! Savanna is a junior at Decatur Heritage and is a member of the Lady Eagles basketball team. She has played on the basketball team for 4 years and achieved many awards including Regional MVP, All-Area, Offensive award and Most Improved. Savanna has a 4.0 GPA and plans to attend college on basketball scholarship to major in Criminal Justice. She is the daughter of Stacy and Jaimie Naylor. Keep up the good work, Savanna!

Diamondhead Encore Athlete of the Month, Madison Ladner

Congratulations to Madison Ladner who was chosen as the Diamondhead Clinic Athlete of the Month! Madison is a freshman, multi-sport athlete at Hancock High School. She is a member of the basketball (#4) and volleyball (#7) teams and already has a variety of awards including Free Throw National Champion (2009), Most Sportsmanship, and the 2013 District Championship. Madison hopes to play volleyball in college while obtaining a pharmacy degree. She is the daughter of Byron and Rhonda Ladner.  Keep up the good work Madison!

Congratulations to the Russellville Encore Athlete of the Month, Kristen Camp! Kristen is a senior, multi-sport, athlete from Hackleburg High School! She plays volleyball, basketball, and softball for the Lady Panthers and her awards consist of the following: Team Captain for Basketball, Marion County All Tournament Basketball Team, and the NAC All Tournament Award. After graduation, she hopes to play college basketball while working towards obtaining a bachelors in Theatrical Arts. Kristen is the daughter of Rosemarie Camp and Steve Kenney. Congratulations to Tristen Palmisano for being chosen as the Arab Clinic Athlete of the Month! Tristen is a Senior, multi-sport athlete from Brindlee Mountain High School with a 3.6 GPA. He has played football (#5) for 4 years, basketball (#12) for 3 years, and weight lifted for 2 years. Tristen is also Captain of the Lions football team. After graduation, he plans to attend JSU to earn an Education degree specializing in math. Tristen is the son of Paula and Jerry Brown.

Faith Academy senior, Austin Miller, got his wish last night when he was chosen to be a starter for the Ram’s basketball team. The once “manager” for the team put on the #33 jersey and had his chance to shine. At the tip off, Austin was thrown the ball and scored the first points of the game! Talk about a senior night dream come true. 

“Can’t really compare it to anything else because it was so amazing,” said Miller.

Austin is a true inspiration to overcoming what some would say to be impossible. We are proud of you Austin! Keep up the good work!

Arab Clinic Athlete of the Month, Courtney Yarbrough.

Congratulations to Courtney Yarbrough for being chosen as the Arab Encore Athlete of the Month! Courtney is a junior, multi-sport athlete for the Brindlee Mountain High School Lady Lions. She has over 1,000 career points in basketball and was the first BMHS athlete to reach that goal! Courtney was also named the 2015 Marshall County MVP for basketball. Congratulations to the Decatur Encore Athlete of the Month, Brook Childers! Brook is a junior, multi-sport, athlete from Brewer High School in Somerville, Alabama. She is on the Lady Patriots basketball (#22) and volleyball (#22) teams and has played sports for 10 years now. Last year, Brook was chosen for the 2014 Volleyball All Area Team. She is also a Brewer High School Ambassador and a member of the National Honor Society. After high school, she plans on attending college to become a physical therapist. Brook is the daughter of Jim and Belinda Childers.

Luke is a senior from Falkville High School and has been a member of the Blue Devils basketball team (#20) for three years. He has a 4.2 GPA and plans to attend Wallace State Community College for Diesel Mechanics after he graduates in the spring. Luke is the son of Yancey and Julia Randolph. Congratulations to the Winfield Encore Athlete of the Month, Jake Gunter! Jake is a junior, multi-sport athlete at Marion County High School. He has played basketball (#2) for three years and football (#45) for one year. Jake has been to the 2012 1A Final 48 for basketball and the 2014 1A semi-finals in football. He has also received the 2013 Basketball Academic Award. After high school, Jake plans to attend a two year college degree to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.
