We would like to wish Encore Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer and Sports Medicine Coordinator Melinda Wilson a Happy National Athletic Training Month!

Melinda has been with Encore for 10 years. Originally from Winfield, AL, she currently serves as a Regional Sports Medicine Coordinator with Encore Sports Medicine. Melinda Is actively involved with the Coach Safely Foundation as a State Training Coordinator and Instructor. Recently, she has been selected as the Marketing Coordinator for the Encore clinics in the northwest region of Alabama.

Melinda graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Masters in Health and Human Performance. She has been certified as an Athletic Trainer for 29 years. Her personal interests include painting and working in the yard.

When asked why she chose athletic training as a career she states, “I knew I wanted a career where I could be involved in sports. After college I was Introduced to athletic training and I fell in love with it! I wanted to be able to help athletes get back to play after an injury. I have truly loved the lifelong relationships I have been able to build along the way! I’m excited for my new journey in athletic training because now I am able to be a part of all communities within our region!”

We are very proud to have Melinda on our Encore Sports Medicine Team! Thank you for all you do for all our athletes, schools, patients, and each community we serve!

Happy National Athletic Training Month to Encore Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer Drew Battle!

Drew has been with Encore 8 years. Originally from Fayette, he has called Hamilton home for the past 23 years. He currently provides sports medicine services to Hamilton High School and Vina High School. He can also be seen on the sidelines at Marion County High School throughout the year!

Drew earned his degree at the University of South Alabama. He has been certified for 26 years. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and kayaking.

When asked why he chose athletic training as a career, Drew shares, “I played sports and had my share of injuries while playing. I had an injury in college and was introduced to the athletic training field. Shortly after, I changed my major to athletic training and have been in the field ever since.”

We are proud to have Drew on the Encore Sports Medicine Team! Thank you for all you do for Hamilton High School, Marion County High School, Vina High School, and ALL the communities you serve!

Happy National Athletic Training Month to Encore Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer Kyle Ford!

Kyle has been with Encore for 6 years. Originally from Louin, MS, he currently provides sports medicine services at Muscle Shoals High School.

Kyle earned his Athletic Training degree as well as a Masters Degree in Health and Human Performance from The University of West Alabama. He has been certified for 12 years. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, gaming, kayaking and weightlifting.

When asked why he chose athletic training as a career, Kyle shares, “As a senior in high school, I tore my ACL playing football. I paid a visit to Dr Sony Rush in Meridian, MS for further evaluation and afterwards I knew I wanted a career in the sports medicine field. I chose athletic training because overall it is a career in the sports field where I can be around athletes all day everyday.”

Happy National Athletic Training Month to Encore Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapist Beth Moore!

Beth has been with Encore for 5 years. Originally from Haleyville, AL, she provides sports medicine services to Haleyville High School. Beth also serves as the Regional Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy Coordinator for the Haleyville, Russellville and Muscle Shoals areas.

Beth earned her Bachelors of Science from the University of North Alabama. She received her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Mobile and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Alabama State University. Beth has been a certified Athletic Trainer for 22 years. In her free time, she enjoys attending ALL sporting events!

When asked why she chose athletic training as a career, Beth shares, “I love both playing and watching sports. I tore both ACLs in high school while playing basketball. We did not have any athletic trainers or physical therapy providers. I wanted to be able to stay around sports while helping athletes get back to the sports they love.”

Happy National Athletic Training Month to Encore Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer McCayla Richards!

McCayla is originally from Winfield, Alabama. She currently provides sports medicine services to Marion County High School. You may also see her on the sidelines of other nearby schools.

McCayla earned her Athletic Training degree from The University of Alabama. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and family. She also enjoys going to the gym and playing golf.

When asked why she chose athletic training as a career, McCayla shares, “I chose athletic training as a career because of my passion for helping and serving others. I always knew growing up that I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. I was encouraged by Melinda Wilson to pursue athletic training when I was a freshman in college. After hearing her describe this career, and seeing the impact she had not only on her athletes, but on myself and others in our community, I knew I wanted to become an athletic trainer.”

Danielle has been with Encore for 4 years. Originally from Belmont, MS, she currently provides sports medicine services at Muscle Shoals High School.

Danielle earned her Athletic Training degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and her received a Masters Degree from Delta State University. She has been certified for 6 years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, fishing and traveling when possible.

When asked why she chose athletic training as a career, Danielle shares, “Like many athletic trainers, life in high school was all about sports for me, so I knew when it came time for a career, I wanted to stay involved with sports. I have also always been fascinated with the medical field and helping others. Athletic training is a perfect combination of both.”
