“I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2014. Then had a reoccurrence 2024. In April of 2024, I had surgery to remove a brain tumor (breast cancer metastasis) and suffered a stroke.
“I was left with left side weakness, numbness and unable to walk.
“When I started with Encore in January, 2025, I was unable to walk much. Now things are much better! I can walk with my walker for extended lengths and my overall balance has improved! Ethan, the Occupational Therapist, has my left arm working better and I am so glad!
“I would recommend Encore because the staff at Encore are so caring! They encourage me to do things I never thought possible. They are like family!
“I enjoy the fun exercises that Riley has me do. She always adds an element of fun to the workout. When Susan works with me, we have been known to dance to Michael Jackson!

Marley had posterior labral tear in her arm from volleyball and cheer. She underwent surgery and then started Rehabilitation at Encore Rehabilitation – Andalusia! Occupational Therapist Ethan Powell worked with Marley on regaining her range of motion and upper extremity strengthening. Now, Marley has full range of motion and strength back in her arm!
Marley says, “The Rehab Team at Encore are very friendly. They encourage you to keep going through your rehab so you can get back to doing the things you enjoy, which for me is volleyball and cheer! They are the best! They are very encouraging and you get great results here!”

Ethan Powell, OTR/L
Happy Occupational Therapy Month to Ethan Powell, Occupational Therapist in Andalusia, Alabama. He has experience in skilled nursing, outpatient, and acute care working with strokes, hand injury and repairs, geriatrics, and other upper extremity neurological diseases.
Ethan shares, “I love to make personal connections with each patient. The best part is helping people achieve their full potential despite any impairments they may have.”
He is currently working toward obtaining his certification as a Certified Hand Therapist to better serve his patients.
