Congratulations to Tyler Borden, Athlete of the Month for Addison High School and Encore Rehabilitation-Cullman! Tyler is a Senior at Addison where he plays Running Back and Defensive Back (#17) for the Bulldogs. For the month of October, Tyler posted 450 years and 7 touchdowns in only 3 games. Congratulations to LaTora Duff, Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation – Enterprise, Alabama! LaTora is a Senior at Samson High School where she plays Basketball (#30) for the Tigers. She has played Varsity for five years and has received the Dothan Eagle Super 12 and Honorable Mention-Super 12 honors. In addition LaTora has earned several accolades from the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) including AHSAA All-State Team Member, and AHSAA All-Star Team Member. She has been named game MVP on multiple occasions.
LaTora plans to continue playing basketball in college while she pursues a degree in Physical Therapy. We like your career choice, LaTora! She is the daughter of Frereka Regina Owens.

Congratulations to Norm Moore, Patient of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation – Foley!
Norm has been receiving physical therapy at Encore Rehabilitation in Foley for three weeks as he recovers from Hip Replacement Surgery. He selected Encore because his doctors and friends recommended the Foley Clinic.

Wallace State Community College and Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce invited 8th Grade Students from across the Greater Cullman area to come explore hands-on a variety of careers and professions at the Cullman Area Career Awareness Fair on November 7, 2017. Almost 1,000 students attended the event held at Wallace State in Hanceville, Alabama.
Sharing their passion for athletic training and rehabilitation are Encore Rehabilitation Athletic Trainers l-r: Gage Brewer; Dewayne Fortenberry; Adrianne Borland; and Jessica Burnetti with Occupational Therapy Assistant Leslie Perry. Also representing Encore Rehabilitation at the event were Adrian Dickerson and Bo Shirey.
Encore Rehabilitation, Inc. was proud to share the fields of Athletic Training-Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. Encore Rehabilitation Athletic Trainers worked with students to teach the proper way to place an individual onto a spine board when there is a suspected neck or spine injury. The Athletic Trainers also discussed the need for taping in sports and activities to provide greater stability and prevent injury and some students received a taping to their ankle. Therapists were on hand to share how physical therapy and occupational therapy can help individuals recovering from an accident, injury or illness.

“I had knee replacement surgery in July and then I had knee manipulation six weeks later,” says Sara Bell of Wilsonville, Alabama. Beginning a new career path at age 41 was not easy but Barry Haisting shares, “Becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant is by far the best career decision I’ve made!”
“When I began this career path 8 years ago, my interest was based around athletics and returning athletes to play. Since then, I would say my interest has definitely changed to helping others return to work and independence,” he expressed. Barry is a Physical Therapist Assistant at Encore Rehabilitation of Haleyville.
Previously to receiving his PTA degree from Wallace State Community College, he had received a business degree from Northwest Shoals Community College. Happy to be treating patients, Barry has been in the physical therapy field for 8 years and has been with Encore Rehabilitation for 4 years.

“I had surgery due to a full ACL tear, partial MCL tear, and tearing of both sides of the meniscus,” says David Therrien of Long Beach, Mississippi. David has been coming to Encore Rehabilitation – Long Beach for physical therapy for 7 weeks. “Workmen’s Comp selected Encore Rehabilitation for me, but I have been absolutely pleased with the whole process.”

Physical Therapist Bethany Sutton really enjoys her work! She says, “I love being able to improve an individual’s quality of life through my profession. Helping a person get back to doing the things they love is so rewarding. I also enjoy practicing in my hometown and giving back to my community through my practice. I like that I see individuals with a variety of conditions-from orthopedic to neurological and many others.”
Bethany received her undergraduate degree from Samford University and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Alabama State University. She is also Certified in Dry Needling. Bethany has been practicing for one year at the Encore Rehabilitation Clinics in Hamilton and Winfield.
