Demetria Patterson could not bend her knee. She visited her doctor who recommended Physical Therapy to see if she could avoid surgery.

Demetria says, “My doctor told me I had some wear in my knee that therapy would be best for me, that if it was not enough, there was nothing else to be done but surgery. Since being at Encore Rehabilitation-Columbiana, Mrs. Suzanne Jarvis has really helped me reach my goal of bending my knee pain free. She has been a great therapist and I feel like I have benefited totally from where I was in the beginning. I went from not being able to bend at all in my left knee to bending 120-125 degrees.

Swim for MS – 18,000 laps in one month!

I love to swim and I was looking to do a swim-a-thon as a fundraiser.  I decided to do one for MS (Multiple Sclerosis) because my mother, Judy Shirey, was diagnosed over 20 years ago.  I contacted her MS doctor, Chris Laganke, MD, and I was referred to the local National MS Society chapter in Alabama.

For the MS Swim event, all the proceeds raised would be donated to the local Alabama chapter to help raise awareness and find a cure for MS.

The Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center gave me permission to use their facilities to host our event.  The event took place the entire month of January.  We had just over 20 swimmers to participate.  Our goal was to swim over 500 miles (18,000 laps) in the month of January.    We reached our goal just few days late but we had a couple of snow days and several of our swimmers had the flu.  We raised almost $4,000 for MS.

The next MS Swim event is scheduled for September 2019. We welcome others to participate and donate.

Torious is a Senior at Citronelle High. He is a multi-sport athlete competing in Basketball and Football for the Wildcats. After graduation, Torious plans to attend Alabama A & M University and obtain a bachelor’s degree. In his free time, he likes to play sports and hunt.

Torious is the son of Latara Jones and Quindon Thomas.

Compassionate and Professional Care at Encore Rehabilitation-Hayden

A car accident left Mary Francis Wilson with injuries in her neck, shoulder and low back.  She chose Encore Rehabilitation-Hayden as her rehab provider. 

After returning to better health and completing her rehab, Ms. Wilson wrote Encore a note regarding her therapist, Emily LaRue, DPT.

Meet Lindsey Walker-Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Muscle Shoals!

Lindsey is a Junior at Muscle Shoals High School where she competes in Volleyball (#44) for the Trojans. She has been name 2017 Offensive Player of the Year, All-Area 2nd Team, and Colbert County All-Tournament Team.

Her future plans include playing Volleyball in college and earning her Physical Therapy degree. (Hooray for more Physical Therapists!)

Lindsey is the daughter of Joey and Cindy Walker.
