SportsFit-Leakesville would like to recognize Wade Courtney as a Super SportsFit Member!
Wade is dedicated to his fitness program and has encouraged many of his co-workers and family members to become SportsFit members as well. He works out with them and helps encourage a healthier lifestyle.
Wade says, “I love working out at the Leakesville SportsFit gym. There are really good people that are gym members and employees, and, on top of that, I just really love to work out! It’s kinda like my therapy. I feel much better all the way around while working out and I just like having a regular workout schedule.”
Thank you, Wade, for being a Super SportsFit Member!
Summer time in the South means lots of heat and humidity! Here are some tips for dealing with the summer heat!
Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids. Do not wait until you are thirsty to start hydrating. A sports drink can help replace lost salt and minerals from sweating.
Stay indoors as much as possible and limit exposure to the sun.
NEVER leave children or pets alone in closed vehicles. NEVER.
Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing that covers as much skin as possible. Protect your face and head with a wide-brimmed hat.
Avoid working outside during the hottest part of the day. Take frequent breaks.
Pay attention to what you eat and drink. Eat less of salty foods and eat more fruits and vegetables. Also smaller, more frequent meals will help.
Seek indoor, air-conditioned activities. If you do not have air conditioning, visit public places with air conditioning like the mall, the library, or restaurants.
Stay tuned to the local forecast on the radio, television, or internet.
Be sure to check on family and friends who do not have air conditioning and may live alone.
Learn the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. Heat-related deaths and illnesses are preventable, but it’s important to identify the warning signs and to react swiftly and appropriately when they arise.
Congratulations to Brenda Snell, SportsFit-Leakesville March Member of the Month!
Brenda started her gym membership after developing lung problems from chemotherapy related to a breast cancer diagnosis. At the time, she had less than 60% lung function. Since starting the gym, Brenda has lost 60 pounds and seen her lung function improve to 73%!
Brenda and her doctor credit her gym time and increased activity for her health improvements!
We are so proud of you, Brenda! Keep up the good work!
Remember, the gym is not just for athletes–it’s for everyone!
“My name is Ronald Franks. I have worked for Clarke Washington EMC as a lineman for 25 years. I had a bad accident and didn’t think I would be able to walk again until I heard about Encore Rehabilitation. I have never seen a place like this. You are not a client when you go here; you are family. John, Kendra, and Becky treat you like family. I never missed a day of Physical Therapy in 5 months and it was because of the determination on my part and theirs to get me healthy again. As I write this, I can’t help but cry because without them, I wouldn’t be here today. I have nothing but respect for Encore and the people that work there. I can truly say I have met Superman and Superwoman in Citronelle, Alabama at Encore Rehabilitation. Thank y’all! Much love and respect for Encore!” ~ Ronald Franks, patient
Thank you, Mr. Franks, for choosing Encore Rehabilitation! It was our pleasure to be your Rehab Provider!
