2018 AHSAA North-South Boys and Girls Soccer All-Star Teams Announced

black and shite soccer ball on green grass field graphic that reads 2018 AHSAA all-star Soccer Teams Announced, encorerehab.comThe North-South Boys and Girls Soccer Doubleheader will be at Emory Folmar Soccer Complex, Montgomery, on Tuesday, July 17, with the girls playing at 5 p.m., followed by the boys at 7 pm.


Coaches for the South Girls Soccer All-Stars are Cheryl Flores of McGill-Toolen Catholic, who coached the Lady Jackets to the school’s first Class 7A state championship last season, and Sophie Simantel of Auburn. Ken Wright of the Montgomery Public Schools is administrative coach.

Coaches for the North Girls Soccer All-Stars are Helena’s Cliff Naron and Russellville’s Trey Sanford. George Cavender (retired-SR Butler) will be the administrative assistant.


Coaching the North Boys Soccer All-Stars are Matthew Pharr of Cherokee County and Jake Siefert of Sparkman. Ken Wright of the Montgomery Public Schools is administrative coach.

Coaching the South Boys Soccer All-Stars are Bruce Ladner of Enterprise and Nick Berryman of Alabama Christian. George Cavender (retired- SR Butler) will be the administrative assistant.

The North swept both matches in 2017 with the girls winning 4-1 and the boys 5-2. The North girls hold a 13-2-1 edge in the series and the North Boys have a 10-4-1 advantage.

Jacob Ring has been selected as Athlete of the Month for Holly Pond High School and Encore Rehabilitation-Cullman.

Jacob is a Junior and multi-sport athlete for the Broncos, competing in Football (#50) and Baseball (#24). He has been named 2017 2nd Team All-Area Baseball and 2017 All-County and All-Region Offensive Line. After high school, he plans to major in Mathematics and Education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

In his free time, Jacob likes to play sports, bowl, and spend time with his friends. He is the son of Michelle Daugherty and Allen Daugherty.

Congratulations to Madelyn Robbins, Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Diamondhead!

Madelyn is a Senior at Hancock High School. She participates in All Star Cheerleading with Stunt Force Cheer. She is a member of various clubs and organizations including Vice-President in the Spanish National Honor Society; Beta Club; National Honor Society; Class Representative for Student Council; and Mu Alpha Theta Rho Kappa. She has completed Residential Advisor Advanced Seminar. She is on the Principal’s Honor Roll and the Superintendent’s Honor Roll.

Her future plans include obtaining a Biology degree from Ole Miss. Madelyn is the daughter of Katherine Robbins and Michael Robbins.

Way to go, Madelyn! May you continue to have success!
