Physical Therapy instead of surgery

Demetria Patterson Photo Columbiana

Demetria Patterson could not bend her knee. She visited her doctor who recommended Physical Therapy to see if she could avoid surgery.

Demetria says, “My doctor told me I had some wear in my knee that therapy would be best for me, that if it was not enough, there was nothing else to be done but surgery. Since being at Encore Rehabilitation-Columbiana, Mrs. Suzanne Jarvis has really helped me reach my goal of bending my knee pain free. She has been a great therapist and I feel like I have benefited totally from where I was in the beginning. I went from not being able to bend at all in my left knee to bending 120-125 degrees.

“I choose Encore because I was recommended by my doctor because Encore is close to my  home. I thank him for the recommendation and I thank Mrs. Jarvis for working with me. She has a great way of working with people and doesn’t push you to do anything that will cause you any type of further injury. Thank you to Brian as well for always helping out with suggestions. Thank you again, Mrs. Jarvis, for taking the time to help me heal in such a short time.

Thank you, Demetria, for choosing Encore! We are glad you were able to use Physical Therapy and avoid surgery. Great job!

A car accident left Mary Francis Wilson with injuries in her neck, shoulder and low back.  She chose Encore Rehabilitation-Hayden as her rehab provider.

After returning to better health and completing her rehab, Ms. Wilson wrote Encore a note regarding her therapist, Emily LaRue, DPT.

Ms. Wilson says, “I should like to take this opportunity to commend Emily LaRue, who is in charge of your operation at Encore Hayden. Emily is first and foremost a true professional, not only is she extremely competent in the physical aspects of her profession, she is also very gifted with an understanding of the mental and emotional make-up of her patients. WALK MS-Cullman 2018 will take place Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Heritage Park (1705 Lee Ave SW, Cullman, AL 36055). Registration at 10 am. Walk starts at 11 am.

Why we walk~~
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. MS is different for everyone, and that makes it all the more challenging to solve. The first Walk MS event was in 1988, and since then more than $1 billion has been raised for research and programs to improve the lives of people living with MS. Today, there are treatments where there weren’t any before, and the dream of ending MS is becoming a reality. But there is still so much to do.

That’s why we’re walking. We’ve set an ambitious goal because we know with support from people like you, we will have a great chance at reaching it. The money raised will drive groundbreaking research, provide life-changing programs and guarantee a supportive community for those who need it most. This cause is important to us, so we hope you can do your part to help end MS forever.
