Low Back Pain?

13092

Low Back Pain? According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH)*, “80% percent of adults experience low back pain at some point in their lifetimes. It is the most common cause of job-related disability and a leading contributor to missed work days. In a large survey, more than a quarter of adults reported experiencing low back pain during the past 3 months.” Low back pain may affect sleep, work, family life, and recreational activities. Yet many individuals do not seek professional medical help for low back pain.

How can physical therapy help? Physical therapy may be beneficial to relieve pain, increase movement, strengthen the back and core muscles, and improve mobility and flexibility. Physical therapists also work with patients to teach them proper positioning, movement, and lifting techniques. At Encore Rehabilitation, we assist patients in recovery and prevention as well as educate patients on how to avoid re-injury.

If you are experiencing low back pain, seek professional medical help. Encore Rehabilitation is ready to help you get back to living!

Helping people- Chantry Hagood, LPTA

Chantry Hagood PTA

I became a Physical Therapist Assistant for one reason and that was to help people. When I was 15 years old, my mother and I were in a bad motor vehicle accident which broke her neck and crushed her right ankle. After seeing what she went through and the importance of physical therapy in her recovery, I knew I wanted to help others like my mother.”

Chantry received his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Wallace State Community College and has been a clinician for six years. He has worked for Encore Rehabilitation for one year, treating patients at the Encore Rehabilitation offices in Haleyville and Russellville. Chantry is also a Certified Personal Trainer.

Chantry continues, “I love seeing people thrive and meet new people. I have developed some good friendships that stand to this day. I was a sports fanatic and so I love to see athletes get back to what they love to do and have success. I believe all of us therapists desire to make a difference.”

Thank you, Chantry for all you do!

The Athletic Trainers also  discussed the need for taping in sports and activities to provide greater stability and prevent injury and some students received a taping to their ankle. Therapists were on hand to share how physical therapy and occupational therapy can help individuals recovering from an accident, injury or illness.

Best of success to all of the students in attendance!

Accidents happen! Just ask Carshala Youse of Montgomery. “I was in a car accident and injured my neck, back, and left hip. I came in with serious pain in my neck and back,” she says.

Carshala not only received treatment for her injuries at Encore Rehabilitation-Montgomery East, she received much more. Carshala reports, “I came in with serious pain in my neck and back. I was expecting to feel better in a span of two months. What I did not expect was to develop a bond with my physical therapists, have natural/uplifting conversations with staff, and ultimately feel 100% relief within a matter of 3 weeks. Absolutely wonderful staff with amazing results!”

Thank you, Carshala! Happy National Physical Therapy Month!

“I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else!” Ashley Bosarge & Encore Rehabilitation Tillman’s Corner

Ashley Bosarge was in pain, and lots of it. She relates, “Midway through my junior season of softball, I injured by right shoulder and started to realize the pain I was experiencing was serious. I had very limited range of motion in my shoulder and certain movements of my neck sent a painful burning sensation down my arm or my hand would go numb. After months of waiting to find out the exact cause, my MRI showed that I had labral tearing. I was diagnosed with long thoracic nerve palsy.”

Ashley has been receiving treatment at Encore Rehabilitation – Tillman’s Corner for about six months. Recovery from an injury such as hers can take time-and patience.

Ashley says, “The therapists at Encore – Tillman’s Corner truly care for their patients. They have made me realize that some progress is better than no progress and they continue to keep me motivated. It feels great to be surrounded by people who want to see you succeed as much as you do. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else!”

We wish you continued recovery, Ashley! Happy National Physical Therapy Month!

At Encore Rehabilitation, we LOVE to see you move!
