Karmen Johnson is a Senior at Hanceville High School and is the Athlete of the Month for the Bulldogs and Encore Rehabilitation-Cullman!

Karmen is a multi-sport athlete playing both Varsity Basketball(#22) and Volleyball. She has been awarded Most Valuable Player, Most Improved, and All-County. Her post-graduation plans include becoming an Athletic Trainer. In her free time, Karmen enjoys playing sports. She is the daughter of Lewanda Johnson.

Molly Nelson graduated from University of South Alabama in 2004 with a Masters in Physical Therapy degree. She accepted her first position in Fort Collins, Colorado working for three years in orthopedic rehabilitation for a US News 50 Best Hospitals in Orthopedics. She returned to her hometown of Mobile, Alabama taking a sports medicine position with Encore Rehabilitation in 2007.

Her time with Encore Rehabilitation has allowed her to work in a variety of settings in the Mobile area including collegiate and high school athletic facilities. With the help of the Sports Medicine team, she was instrumental in establishing onsite Physical Therapy at Murphy High School and Davidson High School.

Currently, Molly is the Clinical Director at Encore Rehabilitation-Mobile Midtown and serves as the Physical Therapist with the Sports Medicine Team at UMS-Wright Preparatory School.

Molly believes patient care and respect should be held at highest degree while searching for root cause of orthopedic problems to allow people to move better and meet individual goals. Annual continuing education goals are accomplished by her with the most recent Certifications in ASYTM, SPORTSMETRICS, and Dry Needling. Her clinical interests include injury prevention programs, post surgical pain, ACL rehab with progression back to sport, and general orthopedic dysfunctions.

Molly and her husband, Jeff,  have two beautiful daughters that love to spend time playing golf, watching sports, and going to the beach together.

Tommy Murr, Nation’s Lead High School Basketball Scorer and Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Athens

 

Currently, Tommy leads the Nation in High School as the Top Basketball Scorer, averaging 39.8 points per game, according to MaxPreps!  Fantastic job, Tommy!

Congratulations to Tommy Murr for being selected Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Athens!

Tommy is a Sophomore at Lindsay Lane Christian Academy where he plays Basketball and Baseball for the Lions. As a Freshman, his team won First All-Area and Second All-State. Tommy has also earned MVP at the Super 100 Showcase in Atlanta with the North Alabama Flames. Currently Tommy leads the Nation in High School as the Top Basketball Scorer, averaging 39.8 points per game, according to MaxPreps. Wow!

Tommy would like to attend college on a basketball scholarship after high school.

Cole is a Sophomore at Good Hope where he plays Basketball (#2) for the Raiders. He was named JV All-County last year. When he graduates, Cole wants to continue playing Basketball on the college-level and eventually pursue a career in Coaching. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games. Cole is the son of Jeremy and Debbie Maddox.

On November 29, 2016, Will Gunnin lost his life in a wreck. Will played football, baseball, basketball, and track for the Addison Bulldogs. He also was on Addison’s first Fishing Team. Will was loved by all who meet him. The Football Spirit Cry this year was “79 Strong”.
Encore Rehabilitation Athletic Trainer Dewayne Fortenberry says, “The team and community knew him as Papa Gunnin, but for this Athletic Trainer, he will always be known as Big Will or the big sweaty teddy bear.” 
Will’s parents are Donna and Jeff Gunnin. Will has been selected as Athlete of the Month for Addison High School and Encore Rehabilitation-Cullman.

Christian is a Senior at Berry High School where he has played Varsity for two years. He is a multi-sport athlete in Baseball (7) and Football (10) and has been selected All-State, All-Conference, West Alabama All-Stars, and Offensive Player of the Year.

In his spare time, Christian enjoys hunting, fishing, and playing sports.  After high school, he plans to attend Bevill State Community College and purse a degree in Criminal Justice.

Christian is the son of David and Christy Emberg.

“She never gave up!”

Linda Green has been visiting Encore Rehabilitation-Winfield for rehabilitation since having knee replacement surgery. Determined to get better,  she kept doing her best and now she is back to doing all the things she enjoys! Her therapist, Amanda Conniff, LTPA, says, “Linda never gave up! She kept going and did a great job following through with her home exercise program.

Amaris Tyynismaa-Gatorade Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year for Alabama

Congratulations to Amaris Tyynismaa of Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School for being named Gatorade Alabama Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year!

Amaris placed first this year in the Alabama High School Class 4A Individual State Championship with a time of 17:14.37. She also won the Jesse Owens Classic, the Section 1 Championship, the Warhawk Challenge and the Spain Park Invitational.
“Beyond Amaris’s ability on the course or track, she’s the most dedicated athlete I’ve coached in 35 years. She leads by example and encourages all her teammates to be the best they can be,” says Ed Wright, Montgomery Catholic Coach.

Amaris is a Junior at Montgomery Catholic where she maintains a 3.70 GPA. She volunteers with the local Meals on Wheels and Humane Society and is a religious education instructor with her church.

This is Amaris’ second time to be named Gatorade Cross Country Runner of the Year for Alabama. She also won the award her sophomore year.
