A big shout-out to Jacob Ortmann for being selected Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation – Diamondhead, MS!

Jacob is a Junior at Hancock High where he plays Football (#43) for the Hawks. After high school, he intends to pursue a degree in Dentistry or Law at the University of Southern Mississippi. Jacob is the son of Brandi McNease and David Ortmann.

Abby is a Junior at William Carey and plays Goalie on the Crusaders Soccer Team where she has achieved tremendous success! Her list of accomplishments and awards include:

Meet Jessie Bowles, Physical Therapist Assistant at Encore Rehabilitation – Tillman’s Corner in Theodore, Alabama!

Being a Physical Therapist Assistant is very rewarding. The best part of my career is seeing a patient succeed. Whether that success is seeing a patient perform a small task such as performing an independent straight leg raise or a large task such as returning to their career or sport, every milestone is important,” Jessie says.

Jessie has been a Clinician for two years and has been with Encore Rehabilitation for one year. She received her Associate of Applied Science degree-Physical Therapist Assistant from Itawamba Community College in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Jessie shares, “Not only do I feel like therapists impact patients’ lives, I feel that patients make a difference in our lives as well. I will never regret my choice to become a PTA.

Clinic Director Dawn O’Keefe- Encore Rehabilitation-Beaumont

Meet Dawn O’Keefe, PT, DPT, ATC, Cert. DN, Clinic Director at Encore Rehabilitation-Beaumont! Dawn has been a clinician in the Hattiesburg area for 26 years and with Encore Rehabilitation for 17 years. Dawn’s expertise is in providing quality one-on-one care for each of her patients.

Dawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University Medical Center-New Orleans and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  In addition to being a Physical Therapist, Dawn is also a Certified Athletic Trainer. Most recently she has obtained her Dry Needling Certification.

Dawn and her husband, Matt have two daughters, Jordan and Lauren. In her free time, Dawn likes to exercise and run. She has participated with the same girls running group since 1997. Dawn has completed several half marathons and triathlons as well as one marathon. She is a native of Metairie, Louisiana.

Kristofer Jones – Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation – Oak Grove

Kristopher Jones has been selected as the Encore Rehabilitation – Oak Grove Athlete of the Month! Kristopher is a Junior at Oak Grove High School where he plays Varsity Football (#20) and Baseball (#7). Kristopher has lettered all three years of high school and has also made the All-Area Team in Baseball.

When not playing sports for the Warriors, he enjoys hunting, fishing, weight-lifting, and playing video games. His post-graduation plans include attending college.

Kristopher is the son of Robert and Sandra Stephens.

Andrew Sweeney – Athlete of the Month for Saint Bernard and Encore Rehabilitation – Cullman

Congratulations to Andrew Sweeney, Athlete of the Month for Saint Bernard Prep School and Encore Rehabilitation – Cullman!

Andrew is a Senior and runs Cross Country for the Saints. This fall, he has enjoyed incredible success with multiple First Place finishes including First Place at Class 1A-2A Sectionals. In addition, Andrew also took First Place at the AHSAA State Cross Country Finals where he set a new State Record with a time of 16:02! His skills have earned him a scholarship to the University of Alabama- Huntsville.

Way to go, Andrew! We wish you the best of success as you complete your senior year!

“Every day and every patient is different. No two injuries are exactly the same. It is rewarding to come up with different approaches for each patient, ” says Josh Lenox, PT. Josh is the Clinic Director for Encore Rehabilitation – Hartselle and Encore Rehabilitation – Brewer High School.
Josh has a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of South Alabama and has been the Director at Hartselle since 2007. He has specialty certification in Dry Needling, FCEs (Functional Capacity Evaluations), and Impairment Ratings.
Josh started working for Encore 23 years ago as an aide at Summerford Nursing Home. At the time, he was a  high school student at Falkville High School.

Brandi participates in Cross Country and Track& Field events for the Crusaders. She is a Junior majoring in Nursing with plans to become  NICU Nurse after graduation.

Cullman Encore Athlete of the Month, Morgan “Mojo” Smith.

Congratulations to Morgan Smith who was chosen as the Cullman Clinic Athlete of the Month. Morgan, also known as “Mojo“, is a 5’10”, sophomore, athlete at Wallace State Community College majoring in education. She is a member of the Lady Lions basketball team and wears jersey number 21. Originally a Cullman native, Morgan graduated from Cullman high school (where a lot of talent seems to develop) and played basketball for the Lady Bearcats. Just this year, she has racked up two impressive awards: the 2015 First Team All Region and 2015 Alabama Community College Conference Player of the Year. We are sure there are many more in the future for Morgan.

Morgan is the daughter of Leslie and Gary Holland, and David Smith.

Two Encore Athletes in the 2015 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game.

Encore Rehabilitation is the largest, privately owned, rehabilitation company in Alabama and Mississippi; as well as, one of the leading sports medicine providers in Alabama high schools. We would like to recognize two of our school’s athletes who will be competing in the the 2015 All-America High School Football Game today starting at 4:00 PM eastern time.

Darrell Williams, a 6’3″, senior OLB (#12), from Hoover High School, will be playing in the UA All American game today. Williams has had multiple offers to 4-year schools and chose to commit to Auburn University last May. Williams, along with the Hoover Buccaneers football team, recently won the first AHSAA 7A State Championship this past December. You can view his recruiting profile here.

Kerryon Johnson, a 6’0, 4 star, senior athlete (#3) from Madison Academy High School will also be playing in the UA All American game today. He is ranked #3 on the ESPN 300 football recruiting website and has had offers to multiple 4-year schools.
