Have you been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis or do you know someone diagnosed?

Encore Rehabilitation-Phenix City is participating with the Tele-Exercise and Multiple Sclerosis (TEAMS) research study through UAB/Lakeshore Research and the Tanner Foundation.

The FREE TEAMS study will evaluate the effects of an exercise program on improving pain, fatigue, physical activity, and quality of life in those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Encore Rehabilitation Physical Therapist Assistant Megan Johnson is pictured here leading a participant in exercises that have been adapted to meet the individual’s needs and abilities.  The Phenix City clinic currently has 9 participants. The TEAMS study will last through January.

We LOVE to see you move and this program helps us play an active role in that!

WHAT?
The TEAMS study is an exercise program that will be delivered through our clinic with our Physical Therapists or your home using exercise videos. You will randomly selected to do the exercise program in either of the two settings. The program will be adapted to your specific needs and abilities.

COST
No cost to you, plus receive compensation valued up to $380.

WHO?
Individuals between 18-70 years old who are diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Must be willing to participate in a 12-week exercise program.

I was in septic shock and had to have surgery on my foot. I was bed-bound for a year and a half and had drop foot. I was in a wheelchair,” says Marlette McMahan. After two months of Physical Therapy at Encore Rehabilitation-Petal, Marlette is walking again! She says, “The people at Encore Rehabilitation are nice sociable people, like good friends. I was able to make really good progress form the wheelchair to walking.

Nia is a Senior at Pike Road High School where she competes in Track and Field for the Patriots.  She has been awarded State Runner-up 100m, State Long Jump 3rd place, and All-Metro Girls Honorable Mention. She plans to attend The University of Alabama and then medical school at The University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Nia is the daughter of Catrina and Conrad Pringle.

Sy is a Montgomery native and graduate from Alabama State University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Faulkner University.  Sy has been a practicing clinician for two years and has a special interest in working with athletes and active individuals.
Sy and his wife Lora-Emily have two children.  He and his family enjoy spending time outside together, staying active, and spending time with friends and family.

Meet Occupational Therapist Heather Breedlove with Encore Rehabilitation-Athens and Hartselle

Encore Rehabilitation Athens and Hartselle would like to introduce you to Heather Breedlove, OTR, Cert. DN!

Heather obtained her Occupational Therapy degree from The University of Alabama in Birmingham. She has been a practicing clinician for 22 years and has been with Encore Rehabilitation for 12 years. Heather is the Assistant Clinical Director at Encore Rehabilitation-Athens. She currently practices in Athens and Hartselle treating a variety of orthopedic injuries and diagnoses and neurological disorders, as well as performing ergonomic assessments and screens for industries, both onsite and in the clinic. Heather’s Certification in Dry Needling is for the upper extremity.

In her free time, Heather enjoys spending time with her family and participating in activities with her church.

Jackson Breedlove is Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Decatur

We are pleased to announce Jackson Breedlove as Athlete of the Month for Encore Rehabilitation-Decatur!

Jackson is a multi-sport athlete at Austin High School. He competes in Basketball (#4) and Baseball (#8) for the Black Bears and has been selected Team Captain. After graduation this year, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in Divinity. His personal interest include church activities and sports.

Jackson is the son of Lance and Heather Breedlove.

Congratulations, Jackson! Have a great Senior year!
