Congratulations to Ashton LeBlanc of Gulfport High School for being named Gatorade Mississippi Boys Soccer Player of the Year!

According to a press release from Gatorade, the 6-foot, 165-pound junior defender led the Admirals to a 18-4-3 record and the Class 6A state championship this past season. Chinese Medical Professionals visit University of South Alabama Health System and Encore Rehabilitation-Part 5

business professionals posing in front of glass wall which reads University of South Alabama Medical Center

Medical Professional guests from China concluded their tour of Encore Rehabilitation facilities by visiting sites in south Alabama. While in the area, they visited locations within the University of South Alabama Health System: USA Medical Center, USA Strada Patient Care Center, and USA Children’s and Women’s Outpatient Rehab Clinic, as well as Encore Rehabilitation-Tillman’s Corner. Dr. Gregory H. Frazer, Dean of Pat Capps Covey College of Allied Health Professions at USA, joined Encore Rehabilitation Executives Paige Plash and Paul Henderson in leading the tour.  The visitors also enjoyed spending some time at the beach.

The Chinese Medical Professionals were learning more about how Physical Therapy is utilized for rehabilitation and a return to health. China is expected to have over 400 million people over the age of 60 by the year 2020. Due to China’s increasing population of older citizens, Western rehab practices like physical therapy are being incorporated with traditional Eastern rehab methods, such as acupressure and tai chi, to provide patient care. Throughout the week-long tour, the group was able to see Encore Rehabilitation therapists providing care in outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, hospitals, school systems, industries, and fitness centers.
